Great Video for those who aren't familiar with the breed. I own two and wouldn't have another breed.

Mine didn't have to be trained to accept family. And they are well behaved around other children who come into our home. Yes, it is how they are raised and yes, they do need to be trained because they are a intelligent and dominant breed. Yes, they blow their coat twice a year. They are loyal and loving.

I loved my akita. The most loyal dog ever. She would sit there and watch me paint for 3 or 4 hours at a time and would stay by my side as I walked through hell. Sadly my Mom became afraid of her as she reached 120 pounds and gave her away. I still don't forgive her. I come back from my visit to San Diego and my mom gives me an email address saying "if you want to email them and ask how she is here." I thought she was joking.

READ THE AKITAS HISTORY BEFORE POSTING ASININE COMMENTS !! LOL as for ur theory it would also apply to the japanese akita as the akita itself as a breed was impure to begin with

This is not an Akita. It's the kind of half-cast they make in USA. Just american kennel in the world commit the mistake of putting this thing and the real Akita ken together... -__-

first with this whole bear thing. the bears akitas hunted were yezo bears not grizzly. then no, there was no shoot it & let the dog get it. the dogs went & captured the bear until the hunter arrived. for anyone who has not owned an akita, it is very difficult to imagine the power these animals have, it's frightening! i personally believe that the reason why akita owners can stop their dogs from dragging them on the ground is not because the owners can, but because the dogs let's them to!!

ok thanks for that...i'm deciding weather to get an akita, german shep, huskey or a rottwieler....the only thing with the german shep is that they are so popular and i kind of want something different from the average person
