Yes, I hear you, I am hoping not to make that decision, ben is 14.5 yrs and he is losing the ability to walk, he walks but very gingerly, my other lab is 12, she is still going strong. Both fantastic dogs.

The only drawback owning a lab is when it is time to put them down. My first lab was a black lab and he was 13 years old and now I have a yellow lab which is 9 years old. Only another lab owner would understand.

gay. labs are slow and give up. they great for families and dog shows. but if you into sports labs are not the way to go. ya they retrieve but so do 10000 other breeds do. im not trying to be a ass i'm just giving my two cents.
