Founding Story
The West Bend Cookware company began producing products in 1911. Seven men formed an old button factory into the West Ben Aluminum Ware Company located on the west bend of the Milwaukee River in West Bend, Wisconsin. At the time, they had 14 employees that helped produce pie plates, pans, ladles, and cups.
In 1920, the company produced the “Waterless Cooker,” (www.mlmlegal.com) which was a large pot with inset pans designed to cook an entire meal over a single burner. The cooker had a lid that was fitted with clamps to prevent steam escaping during the cooking process, which enabled meals to be cooked without water. They marketed their product in the United States and around the world. This item evolved into sauce pans, skillets, and roasters.
